What tumbling programmes do you offer at your gym?

Tumbling classes are open to athletes on our competitive cheerleading teams only. We offer classes for complete beginners at level 0 up to advanced level 6 tumbling.

Could you provide an overview of the different levels of tumbling classes available?

Athletes are grouped into levels based on their performance during tryouts. Throughout the season, they focus on refining current tumbling skills and mastering new ones:

  • Level 0: Focuses on rolls, cartwheels, handstands, round offs, and introductory walkovers.
  • Level 1: Includes front and back walkovers, and elite level 1 connected passes.
  • Level 2: Involves learning back and front handsprings in both standing and running passes.
  • Level 3: Covers front and back tucked somersaults, as well as aerial cartwheels.
  • Level 4: Focuses on layouts, whips in running tumbling, and standing tucks or series to tuck.
  • Levels 5 & 6: Focus on mastering single and double twisting somersaults, standing tumbling to layout, and twisting skills.

Are there specialised tumbling workshops or clinics offered for specific skills or techniques?

Yes – we offer level-up clinics throughout the season, as well as tumble camps during school holidays.

What qualifications and experience do your tumbling coaches have?

Our coaches are qualified to teach tumbling through British Gymnastics qualifications. All have many years’ experience coaching tumbling to both gymnasts and cheerleaders.

How do you ensure that your coaching staff stays updated on the latest tumbling techniques and safety protocols?

Our staff regularly attend coaching conferences and remain current in up-to-date tumbling drills and spotting technique.

Are there assessments or evaluations conducted periodically to track the progress of participants?

Athletes move up when they’re ready, and have obtained the necessary skills for that particular level.

Can you describe the training techniques used in your tumbling classes?

We use a drills before skills technique where tumble skills are broken down into smaller parts for athletes to master before putting all the elements together. Our coaches are able to physically spot skills when athletes are ready to take a new tumble skill to the floor. We also emphasise conditioning and strengthening as part of our tumble classes – athletes must be physically ready with the necessary strength, flexibility and capacity to keep up with the demands of the skill they are working towards.

Are there opportunities for parents to observe tumbling training sessions

We have a viewing gallery in both of our gyms, so parents are able to watch if they’d like to.
